Black/White Or Color Fish Finder ?

Black/whiteThe black and white fish finders are first of all much cheaper to buy and use much less power. To boats with a limited battery capacity or charge, these fish finders works very well. The black/white fish finders has greyscales from 4 and up to 16 steps, and an excperienced sports fisherman manages to interpret these images without problems. One get exactly the same information on a black/white fish finder as a color sounder. One has to train the eye, and many times a black/white finder can be the first choice. A color finder is easier to the eye to read because it has more nuances. But these finders have a lot higer power consumption and it is due to the strong backlighting which is needed for removing reflexes from the sunlight. In the evening one can turn down the backlighting to keep the night vision and at the same time have a lower power consumption. The fish finders can be put into automode or manual. One can set light level and contrast, different depth areas that shall be displayed, images`speed and gain. If one is a newbie with fish finders, it can be ok to start with auto mode, and after a while when one is more familiar with the unit, one can start with manual mode, above all depth.
Humminbird Finder, Fishfinder Garmin and Fishfinder Lowrance have great greyscale fish finders.
